Those are the days when I go back to basics: Look for someone else who is on their own and maybe feeling a little uncomfortable and say that really complicated sentence "Hello I'm Mark" *. The other person takes a sigh of relief as they are then able to say something. Yes someone has shown interest in me and I have told them who I am. So that is two happier people in the room. * If your name is not Mark you can use your own name ;-) Some very useful advice here.
